Maternal Instincts

This weekend, we had our friends Adrienne and Brad come over for dinner and a game of Munchkin. Sidenote...Munchkin is the best game ever. If you've never played it or even heard about it, please take time to check it out...Sidenote done. Adrienne and Brad also brought company along with them, their 8 month old, Hudson. Since we were playing kind of late, Adrienne put Hudson down to go to bed in his pack and play...Thus beginning my story.

For those of you that don't know, Eric and I already have two babies. Logan, our crazy Beagle, and Andy, our sensitive Westie. They have been (and will continue to be) our pride and joy. They each have very distinct personalities, that can probably only be appreciated by their owners. Logan, for example, gets extremely excited over people and food. Whenever anyone (new or old) comes over, she screams...not barks...screams for about 15 minutes. This 15 minute screaming fest also occurs daily around 3:30 when I return home from work. Only it is not because she is happy to see me, instead it is because she is ready to eat and will pass out and die if she has to wait one minute more. As you can imagine, Logan is our drama queen. Andy on the other hand is our spunky yet sensitive Westie. All you have to do when he gets in trouble is look at him wrong and he goes running for the crate. He spends the majority of his day following Logan and imitating her every move.

This particular night began like many others. Adrienne and Brad arrive. Logan screamed for 15 minutes. Andy jumped around and followed her. Once they calmed down, we ate dinner and then began to play. At this time, it was time for Hudson to go to sleep, so we quietly put him down in his pack and play. As many of you that are already parents probably know, most children do not go down quietly. Of course, Hudson began to cry. As soon as he began, Logan jumped up from her bed and ran to the pack and play.

She paced outside of it, looking at Hudson and licking the side.

Still Crying!

She ran to the jumper...nothing there.

Still Crying!

She ran to the diaper bag and stuck her nose around inside...nothing there.

Still Crying!

At this point, she began running back and forth between the pack and play and Adrienne, until finally we gave in and checked on him.

Who knew our baby was so maternal? Maybe I can train her to change diapers by the time babyskates arrives...hmmmm....

Oh...What was Andy doing? Unfortunately, our other little dear is not the brightest crayon in the crayon box. He decided Logan must be playing a game, and began trying to tackle her as she ran back and forth.

Speaking of maternal instincts, mine lead me to the doctor today. Everything is great...don't worry. Basically, chicken wings and Star Wars are not a good mix on my belly. Eric and I were pleasantly surprised to find out that we are going to have our ultrasound next Wednesday. So, stay tuned for our baby's first picture. I'm sure it will be the most beautiful black and white photo you have every seen.

I can just see logan at 3am when "baby skates" crying she will be at the bottom of the stairs howling and wanting to know when it will stop. Andy on the other hand will sleep right through it in his crate.
